Raised in Alaska, Mark spent his youth exploring the wilds with his twin brother, Daniel. He was taught by his parents to appreciate the beauty and power that the wilderness holds. Living near the Kenai River one gains an awareness of the bounty the waters provide and also their fragile balance. Nearby glaciers recede, yet nature claims the new earth and plants grow where ice once scoured the bedrock. All of these images, these events, lead Mark down a path which dictates the art he creates.
After studying at both Montana State University in Bozeman and Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Mark recieved a BFA from MSU in the spring of 2008.
